fundraising for local hedgehog rescues

HEDGEHOGS NEED YOU are dedicated to raising as much money as possible,
to help local hedgehog rescues provide the care that injured,
poorly or young hedgehogs may require when brought to their attention.

British hedgehogs are rapidly at risk of becoming endangered and in 2020 they were officially classified as vulnerable to extinction.
Their habitat is being increasingly destroyed by urbanisation; they need to roam at night to eat insects, beetles, etc.
and this is more and more being limited by boundary fences and walls.
Another serious worry is that hedgehogs are constantly at risk from injuries caused by humans;
from cars on the road, garden strimmers, slug pellets, bonfires, to name but a few.
And of course, hedgehogs are also susceptible to natural diseases which, in some cases,
can be reversed by the intervention of experienced rescuers.

ABOUT US

HEDGEHOGS NEED YOU, based on the borders of
Dorset and Hampshire, is a non-profit organisation created in 2015 to raise funds to support the work of local hedgehog rescues.
And in so doing, we also bring the plight of the hedgehog as
a wild species to the attention of the public.

Hedgehog rescues are run by totally dedicated volunteers who give their expertise, facilities, time and travel costs completely free to contribute to this important area of wildlife preservation. However, medication, veterinary fees, equipment and food come at a significant cost.

All monies raised by HEDGEHOGS NEED YOU is distributed to the local rescues that need it the most at the time.
The money is transferred directly into the rescues' vet account to help with veterinary expenses.
When preferred, we also purchase specific equipment and/or food as required by the rescue.
No cash transactions are made between HEDGEHOGS NEED YOU and the rescues we raise funds for.

Everyone in the HEDGEHOGS NEED YOU team cares passionately about hedgehogs and thrive on finding new ways
to raise funds to help the rescues. The team has grown over the years and everyone offers a different skill that
contributes to increasing our fundraising to support the amazing work of the rescues.

Many of the team members are talented crafters who give a huge amount of their personal time creating items
(cards, bags, original paintings, cushions, ornaments, coasters, jewellery, candles, etc.)
that we sell at local fayres throughout the year, at special 'cream tea on the beach' events (weather permitting!)
as well as via our FaceBook page and FaceBook auctions.
... we also have a selection of hand-made, unique (and very popular) hedgehog nesting boxes and feed stations.

from our successful fundraising:

£400 contributed to paying vet bills for East Boldre Hedgehog Rescue.

Just under £500 funded the purchase
of an incubator for the
Wildlife Rescue in Ringwood.

£200 was transferred to the veterinary clinic looking after Iford Meadow.

£1,000 was paid towards New Milton Hedgehog Rescue vets' account.
